Aligned Leisure has successfully tendered for the management rights of the Eltham Leisure Centre in Nillumbik Shire.
The Eltham Leisure Centre, located approximately 25 kilometres north-east of Melbourne, is currently undergoing a major aquatic redevelopment. Aligned Leisure will commence management of the facility on July 1st.
Aligned Leisure Managing Director Cain Liddle said it was a privilege to manage a facility long regarded as one of Melbourne’s premier recreation facilities.
“This is a well-established facility that is undergoing a major upgrade that has been provided by Nillumbik Shire Council and the State Government. When completed, it will be better placed than ever to meet important community needs and we look forward to managing it into the future,” he said.
The Aligned Leisure submission committed to improving the broader health and wellbeing of the community through a number of innovative community-based programs that will be delivered from the leisure centre facility and directly into the community. The programs address very real health and lifestyle issues including mental health, bullying and obesity.
“Working with the community, the council has an established Health and Wellbeing Plan and our programs are well placed to amplify the good work already being done,” Liddle said.
At the completion of the redevelopment, the facility will have an indoor lap pool, warm water pool, leisure pool (with adjoining learn to swim pool), an outdoor water play area as well as spa, sauna and steam facilities.
The Centre also has a 700sqm health club, a range of program and group fitness spaces, a two-court multi-purpose sports stadium, café area and a childcare facility. To complement the brand new aquatic facilities, Aligned Leisure will be replacing almost every piece of equipment with brand new state-of-the-art health club equipment.
“Upon commencing management, our immediate priority will be to ensure a seamless transition. What is most important to us right now is providing staff with a level of comfort that Aligned Leisure has been appointed with a view to expanding programs and services and increasing facility usage numbers at Eltham Leisure Centre,” Liddle said.
“As a result, this will mean that we will require similar staffing levels and in some instances, increased staffing levels to deliver on our commitments to the Nillumbik Shire Council.”
Aligned Leisure is a fully-owned subsidiary of the Richmond Football Club, and currently operate the Cardinia Shire’s major aquatic and recreation facilities.
