#BalanceForBetter

International Women’s Day #IWD2019 is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender balance.

This year’s campaign theme is #BalanceForBetter – let’s build a gender-balanced world. Collective action and shared responsibility for driving a gender-balanced world is key.

Balance is not a women’s issue, it’s a business issue. The race is on for the gender-balanced boardroom, a gender-balanced government, gender-balanced media coverage, a gender-balance of employees, more gender-balance in wealth, gender-balanced sports coverage …

Gender balance is essential for economies and communities to thrive.

“Gender shouldn’t be a factor when choosing a great leader — it should be determined by their actual capabilities and performance,” said Paige Kristalyn, newly appointed Cardinia Leisure Manager. “Over half our current leadership team at Cardinia Leisure are female.”

Paige is a fantastic example of Aligned Leisure’s commitment to #BalanceForBetter by encouraging all staff, regardless of gender, to apply for leadership roles across their centres. Paige has advanced through progressively more responsible positions and played a key role in the implementation and delivery of a variety of programs and services, including Tiger PAW, Healthy Choices and White Ribbon.

Put your hands out like Paige and STRIKE THE #BalanceforBetter POSE to make International Women’s Day #IWD2019 a global phenomenon. And do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women everywhere.
