Aligned Leisure has a robust governance model, led by an experienced Board of Directors who provide our leadership with strategic insight, guidance and direction.

TINA DE YOUNG

CHAIRPERSON

Tina was appointed to the board in
December 2018.

Tina has her own consulting business, assisting companies with acquisitions, divestments and other business initiatives.

KERRY RYAN

DIRECTOR

Kerry was appointed to the board in
October 2013.

Kerry is an experienced non-executive director across the listed, private and not-for-profit sectors and spanning a range of industries, including retail, professional services, education, fitness and mental health.

BRENDON GALE

DIRECTOR

Brendon was appointed as CEO of the Club in August 2009, and as Executive Director in December 2015. Brendon practiced law with a leading Australian commercial law firm, King Wood Mallesons, prior to serving as CEO of the AFL Players Association.

JOE POWELL

DIRECTOR

Joe has extensive experience managing and operating multinational businesses in the technology sector.

Joe is the Group CEO of alffie.com and Open Colleges Australia, as well as an advisor with Hume Partners.

MARY PADBURY

DIRECTOR

Mary Padbury is an intellectual property and trade practices lawyer with over 40 years of international legal, governance and technology experience. Mary is a past chair of Ashurst Australia and vice-chair of the global firm and is currently chair of the Burnet Institute.

SCOTT NATHAN

DIRECTOR

Scott is a director of Aligned Leisure. He is an experienced International Business Manager and Executive Team member with a demonstrated history of working in the health wellness and fitness industry.

TINA DE YOUNG

Tina was appointed to the board in December 2018.

Tina has her own consulting business, assisting companies with acquisitions, divestments and other business initiatives. Prior to this Tina worked at the boutique corporate advisory firm, Grant Samuel, for 12 years. In this role, Tina worked closely with boards and senior managers of clients operating in a range of industries, including banking and finance, resources, health, agriculture and infrastructure in implementing their strategic objectives.

Prior to Grant Samuel, Tina worked in London at Morgan Stanley Investment Management as a buy side research analyst on the Global Equities team. Tina completed her CFA while in London.

Tina is also on the board of the Victorian Institute of Sport.

KERRY RYAN

DIRECTOR

Kerry was appointed to the board in October 2013.

Kerry is an experienced non-executive director across the listed, private and not-for-profit sectors and spanning a range of industries, including retail, professional services, education, fitness and mental health.

Kerry’s other current board roles include ASX-listed Retail Food Group, Mental Health First Aid International and Kids First Australia. Previous board and advisory roles include CPA Australia, Lexvoco and the former Federal Government body, ILSAC.

Kerry’s professional background is in law. Previously she was a commercial partner at international law firm, Norton Rose Fulbright, where she practised predominantly in the consumer markets area and acted for many well-known brands in relation to their business dealings in Australia and offshore.

Kerry was awarded an Austrade Business Fellowship to Indonesia, where she worked for several years. She also worked as in-house counsel with the Packer Group’s media business in India.

Kerry is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.

BRENDON GALE

DIRECTOR

Brendon was appointed as CEO of the Club in August 2009, and as Executive Director in December 2015. Brendon practiced law with a leading Australian commercial law firm, King Wood Mallesons, prior to serving as CEO of the AFL Players Association.

Brendon is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and served on the board of the Victorian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission from 2009 to 2013. He has also been an owner and director of several businesses in the hospitality and leisure sector. Brendon is a current non-executive director of Richmond’s wholly owned subsidiary Aligned Leisure Pty Ltd, and ASX listed company, HMC Capital Limited.

Brendon played 244 AFL games with the Club from 1990 to 2001 and was awarded Life Membership in 2000.

JOE POWELL

DIRECTOR

Joe has extensive experience managing and operating multinational businesses in the technology sector.

Joe is the Group CEO of alffie.com (who is a leading provider of online training and compliance solutions to Employment Service Providers in Australia) and Open Colleges Australia (who is an online vocational education organisation based in Australia) and an advisor with Hume Partners.

Prior to this, Joe was the Chief Executive Officer of publicly listed, global sports technology leader – Catapult Sports for 2.5 years. Prior to Catapult, Joe spent 10 years with SEEK Ltd as a Managing Director of both SEEK Education and SEEK Employment. Joe also spent 11 years at Optus in various management roles, after starting his career as an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Joe also has significant board experience with Online Education Services and IDP Education and is a current director of Tellus Holdings Ltd and The Scanlon Foundation.

Joe Powell was appointed to the Richmond Board in February 2017 and as a Director of Aligned Leisure from March 2017.

MARY PADBURY

DIRECTOR

Mary Padbury is an intellectual property and trade practices lawyer with over 40 years of international legal, governance and technology experience.

Mary is a past chair of Ashurst Australia and vice-chair of the global firm and is currently chair of the Burnet Institute and a non-executive director of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and the Brandenburg Ensemble Limited, which trades as the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra.

SCOTT NATHAN

DIRECTOR

Scott is a director of Aligned Leisure. He is an experienced International Business Manager and Executive Team member with a demonstrated history of working in the health wellness and fitness industry.

Scott currently manages Business Performance at Body Fit Training supporting 300+ studios across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, USA & UK.

Scott is skilled in Strategy, Negotiation, Sales, Business Development, and Operational Management. He has obtained an MBA at Monash Business School and completed academic executive training at leading business schools in Koblenz Germany, Shanghai China & Seoul Korea.
