Mildura Rural City Council

The Mildura Aquatic Facilities span a vast area from Mildura CBD in the north to pools along the Mallee Track in the south.

Aligned Leisure and Council have worked to amalgamate the management of all eight facilities, placing community impact and service at the heart of decision making.

CAITLIN SIMMONS

MILDURA LEISURE MANAGER

Caitlin is a highly enthusiastic community focused leader, with a strong passion for enhancing the services, programs and opportunities provided to regional and remote communities in the areas of recreation and leisure.

With extensive experience in community engagement activities gained through roles in the emergency service, local government and leisure sectors, Caitlin’s commitment to helping others has seen her connect with communities right across the State.

A country girl herself, Caitlin has spent the last 9 years establishing herself as a leader in regional and rural pool operations, playing a significant role in shaping the management model now used for the operation of facilities in the Mildura municipality.

More recently, Caitlin has taken on a Senior Leisure Manager role with Aligned Leisure and now oversees the operation of twelve aquatic and leisure facilities across regional Victoria and NSW in the Mildura and Albury Wodonga Regions.

Connection

Connecting the Mildura community through a range of indoor and outdoor leisure facilities.

The strength of Council’s partnership with Aligned Leisure allowed for transparent dialogue and decision making between both organisations at the very outset of the pandemic. By prioritising community and staff health and well-being as well as the direction to follow all state government directions and health advice, it meant that decisions could be made quickly, and clarity provided to the community at every stage. Aligned’ s proactive approach and response to changes in restrictions and ensuring the facility operated at capacity whenever possible, meant that members remained engaged, the community felt safe to attend and the financial performance of the contract remained positive which further strengthened the trust between both parties.
