The Shed Skatepark is delighted to announce it has launched its inaugural Elite Pathway Skate Academy, endorsed by Skate Australia.
Led by passionate coach Will Stoyles, the program is a fun, inclusive and development-focused program designed as a pathway for intermediate to advanced skateboarders to progress beyond foundational skills.
Stoyles has experience coaching across both grassroots and high-performance environments.
He has been involved as a coach across the past two Olympic cycle skateboarding events, working with athletes in international competition environments.
Stoyles has also delivered and supported high performance camps at the AIS and across Australia and has worked for the Chinese National Skateboarding Team.
Prior to commencing his career, Stoyles was a sponsored skateboarder from a young age, representing major Australian brands and an international footwear company.
Stoyles won Vans Warped Tour events in both Melbourne (1997) and Sydney (1999) across his distinguished career.
Matt Connelly, The Shed Centre Manager, said that the successful launch had followed extensive planning and consultation.
“This program aims to continually demonstrate the high value that The Shed and Aligned Leisure, as well as the City of Casey place on the skating national pathway and long-term success of skateboarding in Australia,” he added.
“To have someone of Will’s calibre leading the program shows the high level of coaching available here and his expertise more broadly will be a significant asset available to all in the local community.”
Connelly added thanks to Bailey Shaw, Jack Duff and Leo Laughlin from The Shed team for their efforts in bringing this initiative to life. As well as the ongoing support from Cindy Bell and Dean Jamieson.
