The Manningham Fun Run & Walk brought the community together for a morning of activity, connection and giving back, with 212 participants and $4,452.29 raised for Carenet.
Every dollar raised will go further, with Carenet able to turn a $10 donation into $57 worth of food, equating to more than $25,000 in food support for individuals and families experiencing hardship.
CareNet’s CEO, Kellie Wishart praised the Active Manningham team in delivering such a positive outcome.
We are incredibly grateful to Aligned Leisure for organising the Manningham Fun Run and choosing CareNet as the charity recipient. The $4,500 raised will make a real and immediate difference to families in Manningham who are doing it tough. Demand for food relief in our community is steadily increasing, so this generous and timely contribution couldn't have come at a better time. Held at Westerfolds Park, the event delivered a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, with participants praising both the scenic setting and strong sense of community.
“The vibe was fantastic. Spirits were high and it did not feel like a drag to be there as someone who is not a runner,” one participant said.
“Beautiful, scenic and full of wildlife. We will definitely be back,” another added.
Others highlighted the event’s social impact, noting the “great community feel” and that “running can be fun.”
The event’s impact has extended beyond the day itself. Following coverage in the Manningham Matters newsletter, Carenet has received several new volunteer applications, strengthening its ability to support the local community.
The event was supported by key partners including M&M Printing, Asahi, Garment Printing, Coffee at Nola, St John, Manningham Council and Parks Victoria.
Together with a second local event, a combined total of $7,561.37 has been raised, highlighting the continued generosity and community spirit across Manningham.
Shannon Mounsey, Manningham Leisure Manager, is excited in how this community event continues to flourish.
