Aligned Leisure and Richmond Football Club inspire stronger sport and recreation clubs in Cardinia Shire

Local sporting and recreating clubs gained a behind the scenes look at what it takes to build strong and sustainable clubs when Richmond Football Club’s senior leaders visited Cardinia Shire for a special event delivered in partnership with Aligned Leisure.

The Cardinia Cultural Centre theatre welcomed local clubs, committee members, volunteers and players for A Night with Richmond Football Club, that explored themes of effective leadership and culture at the highest level of sport and how this can be applied to local clubs and organisations.

Attendees heard from Richmond Football Club’s senior leaders Chief Executive Officer Shane Dunne, Executive General Manager Commercial Daniel Cullinan and AFLW Senior Coach Jarrad Donders, who shared their experiences and learnings during an insightful panel discussion.

The panel discussion and questions from the audience explored a range of topics including, the importance of showing a brand presence internally and externally, having clear role clarity within the club, developing a shared vision and embedding it across the organisation as well as how to always come back to your club or organisation’s purpose at challenging times.

As a proud partner of Cardinia Shire Council, Aligned Leisure was pleased to help bring this first-of-its-kind event to the local community.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Brett Owen said it was fantastic to see representatives from so many different sports and clubs across the shire attend and show a real dedication and commitment towards strengthening their leadership.

“Cardinia Shire is fortunate to have a thriving and diverse sporting and active recreation community who play a vital role in keeping people out and about and connected,” Cr Owen said.

“We know that participation in sport and recreation has an incredibly positive impact on our physical and mental wellbeing and that’s why Council is committed to creating more opportunities that empower people to enjoy the many benefits that sport and recreation bring.”

“As the first event of its kind in Cardinia Shire, we were incredibly proud to partner with Aligned Leisure and Richmond Football Club to deliver this unique event for our community and hope that the insights shared have provided valuable lessons that can be applied within our own clubs and organisations”.
