Aquatic Centres recognised for safety excellence

The Aligned Leisure managed Eltham Leisure Centre is the newest member of the Platinum Pool Program awarded by Life Saving Victoria.

The Platinum Pool Program is only available to aquatic facilities that have previously met the Life Saving Victoria gold endorsement standard with membership subject to a strict Code of Practice and a series of rigorous accreditation hurdles. The purpose of the program is to highlight aquatic facilities achieving the highest standards in aquatic safety and risk management, with accreditation recognised as a sign of excellence within the Industry.

Eltham Leisure Centre Manager, Kathryn Williams, said the team are proud to have met the requirements to join Life Saving Victoria’s Platinum Pool program.

“The program for us ensures that the Nillumbik community have access to a fantastic facility that is safe for the entire family,” she said.

Life Saving Victoria’s Pool Safety Manager, RJ Houston, welcomed the Eltham Leisure Centre to the Platinum Pool Program.

“We are very selective when awarding Platinum Pool accreditation. LSV must be satisfied that exemplary levels of aquatic safety are achieved and constantly maintained before a facility is considered. The Eltham Leisure Centre underwent a thorough assessment of their systems, skills and performance, attaining a high standard throughout to be awarded Platinum Pool status”.

Aligned Leisure also recently obtained gold endorsement for four aquatic venues in the Cardinia Shire Council, including the all year round Cardinia LIFE and three outdoor summer pools.

Aligned Leisure CEO, Shane Dunne, noted the importance of safety in aquatic environments.

“The safety of our team and customers will always be our top priority. Our team have been diligent in setting the benchmark for facility safety, and these latest endorsements vindicate that work”.

“Customers know when they visit an Aligned Leisure managed facility that they and their families can safely enjoy the pools”.
