Batemans Bay’s very own state-of-the-art indoor aquatic and arts facility, Bay Pavilions, is now open for the Eurobodalla community to experience.
The $69 million Eurobodalla Shire Council project, funded in conjunction with the NSW and Federal Governments, includes an arts and cultural centre, indoor aquatics facilities, a water park, gym, group fitness, and wellness areas.
Managed by Aligned Leisure, the Bay Pavilions now employs over 150 South Coast residents providing significant economic benefits as well as the broader health benefits.
Fitness classes, gym workouts, water park and swimming lessons have all commenced with over 1,000 people through the door on opening day.
Tickets for shows are now also on sale. Opening weekend shows include some of Australia’s most loved artists, including comedian, Akmal, iconic indie rock band, The Whitlams, and star tenor, Roy Best.
The Bay Pavilions is already proving to be a place of connection for locals and an impressive destination for tourists.
It was wonderful to see so many different people from the community – all ages and walks of life – having fun and enjoying being active together.

Bay Pavilions Leisure Manager, Chris Teague, said that he encouraged locals to come and see the new world-class facilities, now situated in their backyards.
“Whether it is the water slide, theatre, gym, or play area you are most looking forward to – now is the time to come and see what the fuss is about,” he added.
“Families flocked through the doors on opening day, so start planning your first trip to our new vibrant hub and imagine your lives with Bay Pavilions in it.”
Carolyn Harding, who campaigned for 20 years for an aquatic centre for Batemans Bay, said the finished facility was more than she could have imagined.
“(Back then) we were expecting an extension of our old pool. We’ve got something bigger and better than any other aquatic centre I’ve ever been to,” she said.
“I’m so excited, and so pleased to see a dream coming to fruition.”
