Cardinia Life strengthens community connections with Mums and Bubs classes

Cardinia Life’s Mums and Bubs program has been running for many years at Cardinia Life and continues to be one of the centre’s most popular offerings.

Run by Instructor Julie, the group classes aim to provide a fun, supportive and safe space for new mums to reconnect with their bodies in a light impact way postpartum. Mums and Bubs not only comes with the added perk of being able to bring their baby along to the class, but also provides an opportunity for new mums to connect. After only a few weeks, participants feel stronger and can move more confidently as they commence their return to training.

Taylor Hepburn, Cardinia Life’s Group Fitness Captain, attributes a large part of the program’s success to Instructor Julie’s exceptional care and approach to the individuals in each class.

It’s really important for the mums to feel comfortable in these classes; getting back into exercise after having a baby can be daunting and having their baby at arm’s reach throughout the class provides that extra level of comfort.

“The classes are also great for the new mums’ sense of community, helping them remain connected. Having a new baby can be pretty isolating at times, so it’s great for the mums to get out of their house and to connect and bond with others going through the same major life changes with a new baby.”

The first term of the classes has been a huge hit with the local community, with 13 mums and their babies attending regularly, and the team at Cardinia Life team looks forward to the program’s continued growth.

Registrations for next term’s classes open on July 1st, with classes beginning on the July 10th. Any new mums in the area looking to get back into exercise safely are strongly encouraged to come down and try out a class.

Cardinia Life also offers 150 exercise classes weekly for members of all ages, from Pilates, Tai Chi, and Yoga to strength and conditioning. There’s a class for everyone. Being a member is the most affordable way to take advantage of the group fitness classes at Cardinia Life regularly. However, casual participants are always welcome!
