Nillumbik Leisure Facilities, and two of its hard-working staff members have been recognised at the 2022 Aquatic and Recreation Victoria (ARV) Awards.
Aligned Leisure managed Nillumbik Leisure Facilities is a partnership with the Nillumbik Shire Council.
ARV selected Billy Sunjo, an Aquatics Facility Coordinator, for the Emerging Leader Award– recognition for a long list of achievements throughout the past 12 months.
A brilliant operator with a strong ability to connect with and consider the needs of patrons, the emerging leader was able to far exceed business and customer expectations at Diamond Creek Outdoor Pool for the 2021/22 summer.
Billy’s knowledge and experience also helped contribute to Aligned Leisure’s three internationally acclaimed certifications, while his friendly persona and ability to help others has been a key driver of excellent staff retention at his facility.
Such popularity was also evident when Billy received the Aligned Leisure/Richmond Football Club peer-voted Bunjil Award for best displaying the organisation-wide value of connection.
Georgina Eddy was a standout choice for the Course Instructor Award following incredibly positive student and parent feedback (100% rating across all surveys for 2021).
Georgina completed a Diploma of Leadership and Management and a Diploma of Sport Development at the Richmond Institute in 2018. She now delivers a Certificate III in Community Services for Year 11 and 12 students at Eltham Leisure Centre.
As an excellent presenter with a strong work ethic, Georgina’s presenting style has allowed excellent results for students, and for Richmond Institute and Swinburne University.
Nillumbik Leisure Facilities received the Marketing and Communications Award as a result of numerous initiatives undertaken throughout 2021 that contributed to reconnecting the community following the pandemic.
The facility’s strong communication efforts included an all-new segmentation framework, a new dashboard, digital analytics, first-party data targeting, and the development of campaign landing pages.
Combined, this led to incredible growth in membership, learn-to-swim enrolments, and digital reach.
Aligned Leisure was also recognised as a finalist at the ARV Awards across the categories of Seasonal Facility of the Year Award – Diamond Creek Outdoor Pool, Lifeguard Award – Cooper Read (Caulfield Grammar School) and Sustainability Award– Eltham Leisure Centre.
Aligned Leisure CEO Shane Dunne said the awards highlighted an excellent community focus.
“Billy and Georgina have demonstrated an ability to go above and beyond for our staff members, customers, and students that make up our Aligned Leisure and Nillumbik communities,” he added.
“Their efforts, along with the entire team at Nillumbik Leisure Facilities through their marketing and communication procedures, have done a terrific job keeping our people at the forefront of operations.
