Brilliant facilities commended at Annual ARV Awards

Aligned Leisure and our partners are delighted to have claimed two facility awards at the recent 2023 Aquatic and Recreation Victoria Awards, with both outstanding Centres commended at the recent event in Melbourne.

Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre was awarded Facility of the Year (Medium) and Caulfield Grammar School Facility of the Year (Small), in terrific achievements for the Aligned Leisure managed facilities.

Outstanding staff members Zac Macciocca from Eltham Leisure Centre (Duty Manager of the Year) and Nillumbik Leisure Facilities’ Dylan Henderson (Gym Instructor/Personal Trainer Award) were also celebrated as the best in the state.

Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre was considered Victoria’s best in the Medium Facility category for its customer-focused experience, community programming, local employment opportunities, and sustainability standards.

The outstanding facility was also recognised for its significant growth, record high attendance across 2022, and community-approved preparedness to reopen following COVID restrictions, including strategic planning.

Ongoing high performance in measurement outcomes relating to community programs and increased community engagement also set the facility apart from the strong field.

Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre Manager Maurice Eames said that the Award recognised the outstanding efforts of both Wodonga Council and Aligned Leisure to bounce back from two years of operational and staffing restrictions and disruptions.

The management and staff have displayed a relentless attitude towards providing professional service to all. Winning this award is recognition of the great teamwork from staff within the Albury Wodonga Aligned Leisure team.

Caulfield Grammar School received the Award in the Small Facility category because of the tremendous impact the school aquatic environment has had on students’ schooling life and its profound benefits to the community.

Learn to Swim enrolments saw a 267% spike in the past year at the facility, given the safe and welcoming environment the Centre’s staff provides, suitable for both students and the community.

Environmental sustainability, professional development, staff recruitment, service standards, innovation, and a fantastic Net Promoter Score, which gauges customer feedback and satisfaction, were other factors that set Caulfield Grammar School apart from the field.

A flourishing partnership with Waterpolo Victoria, International Standard Certifications, Industry-leading compliance systems, and the ability to proactively seek continuous improvement was also noted as part of the Centre’s submission.

Being recognised as the Small Facility of the Year is a testament to the collective impact this Centre has had on enriching the lives of the students and community. It is a celebration of the partnership that has contributed to making this possible through a collaborative approach, innovation, and above all else, a community-focused mindset.
